If the FDA had their way, a single vitamin C pill could cost you $100 bucks. That's the main reason they are trying to discredit the vitamin industry; they want a big chunk of the 11 billion dollar health food action. Granted there are plenty of bogus vitamin peddlers, but don't throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater.
There are some outstanding vitamins out there that I take that are 'Food Based' such as Juice Plus:
http://www.juiceplus.com/nsa/pages/Welcome.soa and Source of Life made by Natures Way, another whole foods concentrate. Our Holy Temple understands the language of the Universe, not a science laboratory. In a toxic world, man needs vitamins and as many antioxidents as possible to support his health and battle increasing industrial disease.
Juice Plus, the best for antioxidant protection, is approved by both the American Heart and Cancer Associations. If you are interested in learning more about Juice Plus, just e-mail me @ fowlerindy@aol.com and I'll send you some info.
